Coach Gorman, Director and Founder of the Storm has 30 years of youth basketball coaching experience. He is presently active as the Founder/Director of the BST Basketball Academy  which provides realistic skill development for ages 6 thru college. He has coached in the communities of Methuen, Lawrence, North Andover, Winthrop and the city of Boston. Rick operates the highly successful North Andover Fall Ball League, arguably the best fall basketball league in New England. He has recently retired as the president of the Merrimack Valley Youth Basketball League after serving twelve years. Rick has spent 16 years coaching AAU Basketball for the New England Spirit, Mass Rivals and New England Storm. Rick besides directing the Storm coordinates the exposure and recruitment efforts for Storm players and works closely with our area high school coaches. Rick has been instrumental in selection of over 65 Storm alumni to play college basketball. Rick is a leading expert on youth basketball and writes for a few blogs. Rick is married to Nancy and the father of two, Michael, senior point guard at Anna Maria College and Lyndsey a 12th grader at Greater Lawrence Technical School. He has worked as the Executive Director of the North Andover Youth Services for the past 27 years.  Bert Hammel has been Head Coach of Merrimack College for 30 years and has won over 400 games. Bert played his college basketball at Bently where he scored over 1200 points. Bert runs the popular Merrimack Warrior camps along with the nationally recognized ABA (academic basketball awareness) camp. Bert gives endless amount of time and energy to the Lawrence Boys Club. Bert and his wife Jill reside in Methuen with their three children, Alexandria, Lucas and Cooper

Coach Oakleaf has been involved with Westford Youth Basketball for the past seven years in various roles.  He currently coaches 5th grade girls travel team and boys 4th/5th grade recreational team.  Brent has been a director of Basketball for 2 years and has run basketball clinics in town.  Brent was a member of the UMass Lowell Basketball team and was selected to play on the NE All Star team. 15 Years as Varsity Head Coach at Dover High School.  Prior to Dover HS, Coach Romps coached at Daniel Webster College, Keene State, Central Missouri State, UNH and was head coach of The Tilton School.  Known across New England for his high energy and motivational speaking engagements, Romps is a tireless worker.  One of his greatest strengths is his ability to breakdown a player’s game and implement the skills needed .  Having directed hundreds of clinics and camps over the years, Mike Romps is a true teacher of the game.   Aside from coaching, Mike has made a difference with children as a 2nd grade teacher for the past 16 years at Garrison Elementary School in Dover, NH.  Mike is a Certified Personal Trainer and is the Founder and Owner of “ROMPS LIFE”, a business solely devoted to improving lives for all ages through counseling, goal setting, and/or fitness.

 Coach Clay began his career at Newburyport High School where he was the captain his senior year and helped his team win a CAL Championship in 2003.  He went on to play at Daniel Webster College for 2 years and later graduated with a degree in Sports Management.  Dave has been coaching basketball for 8 years at the high school and youth level.  He is currently entering his 5th year as the varsity head coach at Triton Regional High School.  Dave is a Special Education Teacher and lives in Newburyport.  Coach Campbell has been coaching at the private youth (AAU) level since 2006 with many state championships and national tournament appearances. But, if you ask him, he prides himself on player development and getting his athletes to compete above their grade level. Coach Campbell began at an early age learning from his father, a New Hampshire Hall of Fame high school coach, and absorbing his 32 years of experience. After playing 4 years of high school varsity, he attended Keene State College where he accepted a position as a student assistant with the men’s program. After some work at the High School level, Coach Campbell began coaching for private clubs as he made his way from Keene, NH to his home in the New Hampshire Seacoast. Over the years, he has worked with many of the areas youth. You would be hard pressed to find a player in the Seacoast who hasn’t had training from Coach Campbell at one time or another.

 Coach Brown is a graduate of Lowell School class of 2008. He graduated from WPI in 2012 where he was a four year letterman of the Engineers Mens Basketball program.  He was an assisstant coach at WPI for the 2012-2013 season and just completed his first year as Assistant Varsity Head Coach at Methuen High School.  Coach Wheeler currently serves as the Asst Coach at Suffolk University.  Prior to coaching at Suffolk, Eric coached at Fitchburg State, his first stop as a full-time collegiate assistant. He was an essential ingredient to the Falcons 14-win improvement and ECAC New England Tournament Championship run in 2014-15.

 Dean has been coaching youth basketball in Salem, NH for 10 years.  He was captain of Archbishop Williams High School his junior and senior years, as well as being a two time 1st team league All Star.  He then went on to play for Suffolk University.  During his career at Suffolk he scored over 1100 points in 3 years, was captain in
Joe Maiella served as Head Coach of Wilmington High School for seven years from 2009-2016.  During that time his teams qualified for the MIAA State Basketball Tournament three times and won the Cape Ann League Large Championship in 2011.  In 2011, he was named Cape Ann League Large Coach of the year and Division 2 North Coach of the year by the Massachusetts Basketball Coaches Association.   His team in 2010 won the Sportsmanship Alliance of Massachusetts Award given out by the Boston Celtics and the MIAA Division 2 Sportsmanship award.  Prior to serving as head coach he was an assistant at Wilmington High for 19 years.  This past year he served as an assistant coach at Malden Catholic.

 Coach Kenneally has been coaching youth basketball for over 20 years.  As a staff member of Lawrence YMCA, Fran ran the YBL Program, started the Annual 3 on 3 Tournament, coached several travel teams and became a National Youth Sports Coaches Trainer for Y-USA.  For the past three years Frank has been a volunteer coach for the North Andover Booster Club travel football and basketball Programs.  He is currently the Vice President of Operations for the Merrimack Valley YMCA and resides in North Andover with wife Amy and sons, Sean, Jason and Aaron. Coach Osgood has been around basketball and coaching his whole life. His father coached him from 5th-8th grade, subsequently playing point guard for Wilmington High under current Malden Catholic Head Coach Jim Mccune. Other experience includes being Head Varsity Assistant for Canton High, running his own advanced skills camp for Varsity Program players, announcing color commentary for Umass Basketball radio, and working for three different AAU programs. Currently he works closely with St. John’s Prep which finished last season ranked 4th in the state

 Hank was the Head Coach of Emerson College from 1994 till 2011  Prior to that Hank coached at Framingham State and Salem State.  Hank, twice was voted GNAC coach of the year.  Hank, his wife Pam and children Colby and Lindsey reside in North Andover.  Hank is a college scout for the NBA Oklahoma City Thunder. Hank assists the Storm in program and player development.  Coach O’Neil had been coaching for the past 8 years with Hudson Travel.  He has also spent the 5 years of coaching AAU basketball. For the past 5 years, Sean has also served as a staff member of PGC Basketball.

 Coach Nelson is currently an advance scout in the NBA for the Utah Jazz, Denver Nuggets, and the Washington Wizards. Prior to is scouting assignment in the NBA, Coach Nelson coached Reading High School Boys Varsity Basketball for 5 seasons and led them to a 60-47 record including postseason appearances. Before that Coach Nelson coached for 5 seasons at Tewksbury High School where he led the Redmen to the Small Conference Championship in 1993 and was named Coach of the Year. Coach Nelson also served as an assistant basketball at Harvard University, Babson College, and Salem State College. Coach Nelson resides in Bradford Massachusetts with his wife Anne Marie, and has a daughter Alyssa and son Tyler. He has taught math at Reading High School for the past 27 years.

 Coach Doucas has been a youth basketball coach for the past 12 years in Methuen, with eight of those years spent in the travel basketball program. This is John’s seventh year coaching AAU with the Storm, and coaches in multiple fundamental basketball clinics throughout the year.

 Coach Vitulli has over 15 years of youth basketball coaching experience, including 5 years of AAU coaching, 5 years of coaching with Methuen Youth Basketball and 15 years of coaching CYO basketball. John also serves as the director of the Merrimack Valley Catholic Basketball League. Coach Vitulli works in the real estate appraisal business. He is the father of three boys, John , Tony  and Michael

 Coach Streich joined the Emmanuel College Athletic Department staff in 2014 as an assistant coach for the Saints Men’s basketball team. Streich played four years of collegiate baseball, both with Saint Mary’s college and Ithica college. Streich has also been the assistant coach of East Greenwich HS boys’ Varsity basketball team in Rhode Island. Prior to the Storm, he spent three seasons with the Rhode Island Hawks AAU program.

 Coach McVeigh was the North Andover Varsity Basketball Coach for 31 years (1982-2013). His career record at North Andover was 497-176, the most career wins for both high school boys and girls in the Merrimack Valley area. In his early career, he was an assistant coach at Merrimack College (1970-1974), as well as an assistant at Lawrence High School (1974-1976). He was a social studies teacher for 38 years in North Andover and Lawrence.

Coach Tanglis is currently the Head Coach of North Andover High School and has lead the Knights to two straight state tournament berths. Prior to accepting the North Andover job, Paul was head coach of Stoneham High School where he led the Spartans to state tournament berths in 2012 and 2013, after a 15 year drought. Paul has also been the Associate Head Coach of Medford High School and an assistant coach at Plymouth State College. Coach Tanglis had a successful playing career at Framingham State College, and is widely considered one of the top young coaches in Massachusetts.

Coach McLaughlin has been the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Salem High School (NH) since 2010. He was named NHBCO Division 1 Coach of the Year for two years in a row (2011-2012). In addition, he was named Eagle Tribune Coach of th Year for 2011-2012. He has coached 7 All-State players and 19 Academic All-State players throughout his career as Varsity coach. Prior to his current position, he was the freshman and JV coach at Salem for 17 years, assisting on 3 state championship teams. Rob teaches in the business department at Salem High School, where he was also inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame. A 1991 graduate of Providence College, Rob lives in Salem with his wife Kristen and their two children, Matt and Caitlin.

 Coach Hoyt has been coaching youth basketball for eight years.  He has coached the in-house youth programs for five years in Billerica and has been head coach for the past three years in the travel program.  Coach Hoyt has also coached in AAU for three years.  Russ is a school principal and lives in Billerica with his wife Lisa and two sons, Troy and Ryan.
